When the body and mind are constantly overworked their natural efficiency diminishes. The stress and tensions are mainly stored in the muscles, the diaphragm and the nervous system, so if these are areas are relaxed stress is alleviated. In today’s world we are all caught, to a greater or lesser extent, to the hook of overstimulation, workload, competition and lack of time for leisure or sleep. We do not realize that active relaxation is the natural way to replenish our energy level. Our body mechanism works like this: even when we think we are relaxing, we usually spend too much energy in muscular tension, constant stress and irritability.
- The first step is to acknowledge our negative thoughts and emotions and the way these influence our body and create tension.
- The second step is to clear out these negative influences either by engaging in exercise, Pranic breathing or energy based healing techniques.
- The third and most important step is to learn how we can economize and restore our Pranic reserves, by actively relaxing on the physical, mental and emotional level.
Complete Relaxation is practiced from the pose of Savasana, a position that brings both the body and mind in a condition of inner stillness and inner conductivity for the process of relaxation to actually take place. We are taught to how consciously move our awareness to all the inner and outer parts of our body, peacefully guiding them to relax and replenish. In the beginning we synchronize the breath with the calm movement of the diaphragm, consciously experiencing the expansion of breath during active inhalation and exhalation.
